2025-26 Code of Conduct Grades 6-12

Cell phone usage is not permitted during instructional blocks.

Here at SMBR, we value the integrity of instructional minutes, and therefore, cell phone usage is prohibited during instruction.

To support our students, each classroom has a “phone parking lot” where students are invited to store their phones during class.  Students may choose not to use phone parking; however, they should keep their phones in their pockets, purses or backpacks. Phones should not be visible at any time. Failing to comply with these choices will result in the following: 

*The first and second offenses will result in the phone being held in the main office until the end of the day.

*If there is a third offense, the phone will remain in the main office until picked up by a parent.

Repeated violations of this policy will result in an appropriate consequence.

In an effort to minimize the number of people entering our building during instructional time, we ask that parents DO NOT drop off student lunches and supplies throughout the day.

Reiterated & Reinforced Tardy Policy

To maintain and sustain the integrity of instructional minutes and to also decrease instances of:

The impacted student codes are: insubordination, Unsafe/threatening behavior, bullying and loitering

We are reinforcing the tardy policy adopted during the 2023 - 2024 school year. Teachers will continue to stand in the doors, during transition to support progressive movement and safe behaviors. Our safety personnel and administrative team will do the same.

The following consequences will be given to students who are consistently tardy.

4 Tardies = 2 days of lunch detention
8 Tardies = 2 days of alternative placement
12 Tardies = 2 days of OSS

In the event of 12 or more habitual tardies, a parent conference will be requested.

The office team will send daily communication, informing parents of their student's instances of tardies between classes.
